Let’s decorate Marco the Monkey!

He’s not only adorable for a Valentine’s Day cookie but also perfect for a jungle-themed birthday set! To get started, grab a paintbrush or scraper, heck, even the back of a spoon will do the trick! Spread some pink icing where the inside of the ears will go and sprinkle some edible glitter. No need to stress about staying in the lines; we’ll cover that up in the next few steps! Alright, grab your two outline colors, dark brown and light brown! Let's start with the dark brown to outline the hair and ears. Then, take the light brown and give the bottom of the face a nice outline. Woohoo! Now your cookie is all outlined and looking fab! Remember, it's all about having fun, so no worries if it's not perfect!Once your outlines have set for a bit, allowing them to crust over about 5 minutes or so if you have a fan blowing on it or you set the cookie in your dehydrator, the icing will crust over rather quickly. Once you can tell your outlines have crusted over, it is time to grab your flood light brown icing! Time to flood the face section.

As soon as you flood your face and level it out, you may need to use your scribe tool to even out the icing. Once the icing settles flat, it is time to add your wet-on-wet details; you will want to do these steps rather quickly. You can take a lighter brown than you used to flood the face and put a few dots to add some details, drop in your eyes if you use sugar pearls, and even add your cheeks if you choose to do wet-on-wet cheeks on your sweet monkey cookie.

Alright, it’s time to flood both ears with your dark brown icing!

Alright, here's where it gets a bit tricky, but don't worry patience is your best buddy in this decorating adventure! I know you're eager to finish up your cookie masterpiece and flaunt it, but trust me, taking your time is key. Again, a fan or dehydrator will help speed up the wait time. You want the ears and face to be well and crusted over, the longer you wait the better for this next step.

Let your cookie crust over for a couple of reasons. First, it keeps everything clean and tidy. Second, it makes your monkey's hair look all fluffy, with his ears popping out and his face nestled right in! Decorating in these steps adds dimension to your cookie.

Now take your dark brown flood icing and flood this cute monkey's hair.

Alright, let’s outline that nose! Just let the outline crust over before adding your flood icing. This crusting magic helps the outline support the icing, giving you that fun and puffy look. Without it, your adorable monkey nose might turn out flat, and nobody wants that!

If you have a fine paintbrush or a white food marker, great! You can add a cute little highlight to the nose if you want; it's totally up to you! This step is just for something extra; your monkey will be just as cute without this last detail. And there you have it: the cutest monkey cookie you have ever seen!
